Description:
For one of our clients we are looking for a Bargemaster Jack-up.

  • You are responsible for the operation and overall maintenance of one of our Self Elevating Platforms on a BESIX or third party construction site
  • According to the project at hand you will work in day and/or night shifts and during your shift you will be responsible to operate the barge according to the instructions received by the project management. This includes organizing the tow to position the vessel on the right spot, putting down and preloading the legs, jacking up to the desired height and – if needed – assist in the site operations (craning, loading or offloading etc).
  • You will lead, coach and manage the crew necessary to operate and maintain the barge.
  • You will also ensure that the vessel meets all requirements set forth by local and/or international marine authorities or certification bodies.
  • All maintenance works shall be done in liaison with the project management and/or Head Office (HO), adequate reporting of all maintenance and repair work is required.
  • You are responsible for the safety on board and you will instruct and train your crew through regular toolbox talks, safety drills and pre-task briefings and report this to HO
  • You will also make sure that all people (even non-crew) working on your vessel, are aware and apply the safety rules.
  • You will make and distribute detailed reports on your daily activities
  • You will stay informed at all times of weather, tidal, current and other operation related forecasts and conditions, and you will operate the vessel accordingly. When required, you will take or organize the necessary precaution measures (seek shelter in closest port of jack up to safe height)
   
Requirements:
Your profile

  • Preferably, you have a degree in navigation or a few years of relevant experience in this function. Yet, trainees with a passion for working offshore can be accepted as well.
  • Holder of a (basic) Offshore Training Certificate and/or a Certificate in Marine Operations of Self Elevating Platforms can be an asset
  • You have a keen interest in technique, enabling you to operate and maintain the barge with respect for its equipment
  • DGPS positioning systems have no secrets for you
  • Knowledge of first aid is required (Certificate is an asset)
  • Excellent skills in English is a must, knowledge of French (or Arabic) can be a major asset when working in North-African countries with local crew.
  • Any qualifications as an offshore crane operator are most welcome as well.
  • You know how to work a PC and its standard office software
  • And last but not least, you are willing to work and live abroad for longer periods.
